When I got married to the love of my life, I thought raising kids was all I wanted. But as years went by I wanted to do more with my life. I have been trying to figure out what makes me happy it took me 8 years to figure it out. But I finally did. I want to be a farmer!
When I was little I loved being
outside and taking care of my family’s animals. I loved to water the garden and
grass. It was so peaceful outside away from the noise. There are 10 of us kids.
As a kid we raised pigs, cows, horses, Labrador dogs, rabbits, chickens,
turkeys and I remember having a couple sheep at one time. There was something
always going on at my house.
We move a lot. Just comes with the
job. Every place we live I try to have some sort of animals. The last place in
Texas on 5 acres we had chickens, turkeys, a pair of geese, ducks, cats and a
donkey. Then we had to move with my husband’s job. We had to sell most of our
animals. We now live in the cold state of Colorado.
Now that I am the Mom of my own
household with 3 little boys at my heels, I get to choose what kind of animals
we have around and I get to do all the work too! We have 2 Nubians milk goats,
2 Sable milk goats, 4 Alpacas, 2 dogs, a few chickens, cat, and 3 female
rabbits. We have 40 acres this time and saving up to fence it all.
I love my life and learning how to
run a homestead!
